Ancient Empire Dominion

A complete browser strategy game in plain ES modules with zero runtime dependencies. Voronoi map generation, eight AI empires that play against each other, an upgrade economy, and a Monte-Carlo battle simulator.

Screenshots, not a playable copy. What is sold here is the source: eleven readable ES modules you reskin into your own game. Publishing a playable build would hand out the finished game, which is most of what a buyer is paying for. So these are the real thing running, captured from the shipping zip — nothing mocked up or redrawn.

What it looks like

Eight empires on a generated Voronoi map, with an assault being ordered.
Eight empires on a generated map, mid-campaign. The board is a Voronoi partition regenerated from a seed every new game, so no two campaigns share a map. The AI empires buy upgrades and attack each other while you play. Battle Orders recommends a commitment — here 710 of Rome's 2,022 armies — rather than making you guess.
The upgrade economy and the War College simulator.
The economy, and the War College. Gold accrues per tick and buys upgrades that change the combat maths. The War College runs the real battle function hundreds of times against a chosen target and reports the win rate, so a decision can be made on a distribution rather than a hunch.
The same game at 412 pixels wide, board first.
At phone width, the board comes first. The map sits in the first screenful with the attack control directly beneath it. That is worth showing because it was broken until shortly before release — the board used to render below six panels, roughly 1,900 pixels under the button you press.

What I ran before shipping it

  • 40 assertions run against the shipping zip, in a real browser, driving the actual game.
  • I checked the suite can actually fail: run against the pre-fix build it fails 22 times and names every defect.
  • Six defects were fixed before release, including an army slider that committed 10 of 2,202 armies — a first-time player lost their opening assault at the clamp floor and would reasonably have concluded the game was broken.
  • "Zero dependencies" is now true: the stylesheet used to fetch Google Fonts, so the console threw two errors with the network down. The font is self-hosted and the console is clean offline.
  • Not verified: npm run build. Node is not installed on the machine that prepared this, so the committed bundle is what ships and the rebuild path is untested. The README in the download says so too.
